Curatoral note:

Timeless Threads: Art Across Cultures, presents the work of 4 Chicago artists who translate the dynamic spectrum of the human experience into richly inventive paintings. Drawing from personal memories and the intimate connection between our inner selves and the outside world, these artists unite through densely layered stories in their work. From seasoned to emerging artists, Timeless Threads showcases a diverse group of artists in the Chicago art scene to celebrate the power of art, community and history.

Bringing together new paintings across a range of mediums and forms, the exhibition shows: Delia Rose West’s figurative paintings that portrays the intimacy of touch, illuminating the Blackness of bodies that shape her community; Steve Banaszek’s abstract pieces that translate the human condition in the interplay of light, texture, and color; Cedric Alexander Thurman’s striking paintings that investigate the impact of ancestral creativity, exploring the abstraction of Black experiences and emotions; and Jeeone Han's vibrant dreamscapes that reflect diasporic memory, capturing the complex tensions between Asian and Western traditions.

Through an assemblage of abstraction, figuration and surrealism, Timeless Threads encompasses the complexity of the human experience, unified by the memories and stories that shape our lives.
